The important meetings and events for NIGAT throughout the year are the Day Meetings, the Summer School and the AGM which all offer the opportunity to come together with other members, or for non-members to learn more about NIGAT, Art Therapy and Art as Therapy.

Day Meetings


NIGAT hold three day meetings a year. These normally take place on the first Saturday in February, June and October and run from 10:00-3:30. These consist of experiential art-making and a variety of presentations relating to creativity and well-being. The atmosphere is open and welcoming. A delicious lunch is also provided.

Ciaran Doran coordinated The Arts Care Here & Now Festival 2016/17, with over 33 years of experience working in Arts and Cultural Heritage sector.

Arts Care is thrilled to be hosting the RIPE exhibition, as part of the “Here and Now” Older People’s Festival, for artists over the age of 60 who have not previously exhibited in a solo exhibition. The theme for Here & Now Festival is Colour. Inspired by the work of David Hockney who, as an older working artist, has continued to produce work, and is considered one of the most influential artists of the 20th Century.
