These presentations/courses/workshops are run by Art Therapists. The courses can encompass the following: staff and/or student professional and personal development; team support; supervision; etc. When delivered for organisations, the courses/workshops can be adapted to meet specific needs.
They can be run in diverse formats: half day; one day; weekend; short course. The courses can offer opportunities for personal and professional development and for awareness raising about the art therapy profession. They can include the facilitation of symbolic and non-verbal expression as explored through participation in a variety of theoretical and experiential learning methods: experiential art work, lectures, illustrated case studies and discussions.
The courses/workshops are aimed at those in the helping, counselling, therapy, teaching, nursing and art professions etc. - in organisational contexts and with individuals who wish to learn about the therapeutic application of the creative art process.
No previous art skill or experience is necessary. The courses will not qualify persons to practise as an "Art Therapist" or "Art Psychotherapist", nor are they to be seen as personal therapy. For further details visit Open Learning, School of Education.
