The Northern Ireland Allied Health Professions Research Forum (NIAHPRF) formed in 2007, following on from the first AHP Research Conference in October 2006, is currently developing a strategic plan for AHP research in NI.

The NI AHP Research Forum is a sub-forum of the UK Research Forum for the Allied Health Professions (RFAHP) and its strategic plan is in line with the aims and objectives of its partners in the RFAHP. Its work is also consistent with that of the Research and Development Office which is a directorate of the Northern Ireland Health and Social Services Central Services Agency.
